Weds 21st Shownotes

Cathy Kelly chatted about her new book 'Always and forever'

The new warm and engaging novel from the bestselling author of BEST OF FRIENDS.
Fairy godmothers exist, even in the tranquil hills of Ireland!
Once upon a time, in the beautiful town of Carrickwell, lived three women. Three women who thought they had life pretty much mapped out.

Ambitious Mel had a high-flying career, caring Daisy wanted a child with the boyfriend who was everything to her, and hot-headed Cleo was ready to step into the family business once she'd finished her hotel management degree.

Until the landscape shifted and it all came tumbling down. Now Mel's job comes second to the guilt of being a working mum-of-two.

What should be the most natural thing in the world for Daisy becomes the most torturous. And Cleo has to watch the cherished family business crumble along with her relationship with her parents and siblings.

Suddenly everything the three women have always worked for, always desired, looks in jeopardy.

But Carrickwell is a magical place. Nestled in the shadows of Mount Carraig, it's as ancient as time itself. And the opening of the new Clouds Hill spa by Leah - a woman with her own secret turmoil - is destined to cause ripples no one could ever have imagined. The arrival of Leah brings change for Mel, Daisy and Cleo - and the courage to find out what really matters, always and forever...

Also we spoke to Prof. Ian Robertson about his new book .....

If you enjoyed You're A Star Charity Special the gloves will be off this time round!

Remember there is no upper age limit but you must be over 16 to take part. So whether you’re a solo artist or a band, whether your style is guitar driven rock to sugary sweet pop, come and have a go if you believe you’re talented enough. If you have even dreamed of ‘Rock Stardom’ dreams do come true.

Also this week is Energy Awareness Week do your bit to help Combat Climate Change, log on to www.combatclimatechange.ie for details on how you can make a difference.

Did you know that most of the energy you use for electricity, to heat your homes, fuel your cars etc comes from fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal. The gases released when fossil fuels are burned form a barrier around the earth and trap the suns heat in, causing climate change. So by opting to be more energy efficient for eg. buying A rated household appliances, we can help combat climate change.

Here is a list of ten ways you can save energy

1. Turn your TV off rather than leave it on stand-by – equipment on stand-by uses up to 20% of the energy it would use when fully on.

2. Walk or cycle instead of driving for short journeys– it costs nothing and is good for you

3. Turn your heating down – reducing your thermostat by one degree celsius will knock 10% off your heating bill

4. Buy ‘A’ rated kitchen appliances – they cost less to run and over time will give you considerable savings on your electricity bill

5. Use energy efficient light bulbs (CFLs) instead of traditional bulbs – they use 1/5th energy and last up to 10 times as long

6. Insulate your attic – attic insulation will keep the heat in your home for longer and pay for itself in 2-3 years

7. Fit a lagging jacket – lagging your hot water cylinder will keep the water hotter for longer and pay for itself in 2-3 months

8. Don’t overfill your kettle – only boil as much water as you need

9. Fit thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) to your radiators

10. Support renewable energy initiatives in your community

A Perfect Match by Sinead Moriarty http://www.penguin.ie/

After two years of being deafened by the TICKTOCK of her biological clock and tormented by Mother Nature's refusal to grant her a baby, Emma Hamilton decides to go for the instant solution: finding a Russian baby in need of a home. How hard can that be?

But Emma hasn't reckoned on the route to adoption being so complicated. Between proving that she's fit to be a mother (by inventing an unblemished past and discovering an unsuspected talent for housekeeping), driving her long-suffering husband insane with madcap schemes to make them the perfect would-be parents (a few Russian verbs a night and they'll be fluent in no time), and tripping over red tape every step of the way (who knew social workers could be so terrifying?) Emma finds out that adoption is far from the easy option - and that perfection has very little to do with finding the perfect match.

Touching, hilarious and real, A Perfect Match is the wonderful follow-up novel to Sinead Moriarty’s bestselling debut, The Baby Trail.

Really great to have Sinead back on the show!
