RTÉ’s ‘You’re A Star’ is back for a fourth series.

Many people young and old have dreamt of the chance of fame and stardom, RTÉ can give them the chance to make that dream come true.

Later this month, the hugely popular television talent search, You’re A Star, will be touring the length and breadth of the country to find the cream of Ireland’s musical talent.

This year the opportunity to become an international star is on offer. Details of the prize will be announced tomorrow Friday 16th September and it promises to be a once in a lifetime chance for an aspiring musician. Also announced tomorrow will be the new line up of judges and presenter!

Here is a list of ten ways you can save energy

1. Turn your TV off rather than leave it on stand-by – equipment on stand-by uses up to 20% of the energy it would use when fully on.

2. Walk or cycle instead of driving for short journeys– it costs nothing and is good for you

3. Turn your heating down – reducing your thermostat by one degree celsius will knock 10% off your heating bill

4. Buy ‘A’ rated kitchen appliances – they cost less to run and over time will give you considerable savings on your electricity bill

5. Use energy efficient light bulbs (CFLs) instead of traditional bulbs – they use 1/5th energy and last up to 10 times as long

6. Insulate your attic – attic insulation will keep the heat in your home for longer and pay for itself in 2-3 years

7. Fit a lagging jacket – lagging your hot water cylinder will keep the water hotter for longer and pay for itself in 2-3 months

8. Don’t overfill your kettle – only boil as much water as you need

9. Fit thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) to your radiators

10. Support renewable energy initiatives in your community

You may already be familiar with Kimmie’s songs which appear on albums by Willie Nellson, Trisha Yearwood, Wynonna Judd and Merle Haggard, to name just a few... she’s quite a writer and performer, so be sure to come early to the shows so you don’t miss her. In November, Kieran will be doing a few shows in Germany. Blue Sky Sunrise is scheduled for release in Germany in January 2006, with a twenty date tour in February 2006.

Elsewhere we spoke of Chavdar Yankow, the German footballer who suffered a horror tackle where his private area suffered a 3 inch gash! Sweet mercy! OUCH, He played on and believe it or not scored the winner! Nice one Chavdar!!

Each week contestants will be set individual tasks to enable them to advance their budding enterprises and will be given invaluable advice from industry experts while being coached and assessed by a judging panel of some of Ireland's top business brains.

Todays show we featured a new TV show called "Bring Your Husband to Heel" also after my trip to Tramore and my spin on the waltzers my text in tommorow is "Things you used to do when you were a child but you never do now as an adult". Should be fun!

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days but my birthday celebrations got a bit out of hand!

Walk Ireland 2005

Ronan Keating is undertaking “Walk Ireland” for the second time.

The route is planned to start from The Giants Causeway Co Antrim on Monday 16th May 2005 and to finish at The Old Head of Kinsale Co Cork on June 6th 2005.Dates are subject to change.
We are appealing for volunteers to help bucket collect in their towns on route. Unfortunately, volunteers are unable to walk with Ronan Keating for Insurance purposes but you will be able to wave him on and if the timing is right receive an autograph! All collectors must be over the age of 16 years.

We would ask people to fundraise towards this event to promote cancer information and awareness in their community. If you wish to hold events in aid of Walk Ireland there will be an opportunity to meet with Ronan and make a cheque presentations if it is prearranged with either Linda or Barbara from the Marie Keating Foundation.

Short post today, we talked about Beards today (believe it or not there is a site dedicated to beards http://www.beards.org/ Great site, big beards) The general feeling was that my friend who asked the question "Should he grow a beard?" do just that! Well 70% of the texts to the show said yes - so Beards are in vogue with you TAB'ers.

Now if you have been listening to our recipe of the day but haven't been able to jot it all down then here is a quick easy guide!

*** Don Carlos Recipes ***

WHOLEGRAIN MUSTARD BEEF IN PUFF PASTRY WITH NEW POTATOES AND GARDEN PEAS

Ingredients

4 Fillet steaksRead meat marinadeWholegrain Mustard 500g new potatoes1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 tbsp mint sauceFresh/Frozen Garden peas

Cooking Instructions
Marinate the meat in the marinade for 5 hours or overnight in the fridge rolling for steak around occasionallyPreheat the oven to 200°CRemove the meat from the marinade and sear in a hot pan with extra virgin olive oil for a minute on each side.Allow to cool and spread thinly with the wholegrain mustard.

Neatly wrap in puff pastry.Brush the surface of the pastry with extra virgin olive oil.Cook in the oven until the pastry is risen and golden.Meanwhile boil the new potatoes and just before serving blanch the peas for a few minutes.Toss the potatoes with a little mint sauce and butter 7serve immediately

Serves 4

STUFFED SMOKED SALOMON ROLLS WITH POTATO SALAD

Ingredients

125g cream cheese2 tbsp seafood sauce1 tbsp chives4 slices smoked salmon4 potatoes cooked and cubes3 tsp honey and mustard dressing1 tbsp each of chopped chives and parsleyVarious salad leaves2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Cooking Instructions

Blend the cream cheese with the seafood sauce and add a tbsp of chivesSpread generously onto smoked salmon slices and roll up carefully wrap in cling film and refrigerateMix the cubed cooked potatoes gently with honey and mustard dressing and carefully stir in the chives and the parsley.

Slice the salmon in rolls Toss the salad leaves in the vinaigrette and serve with salmon and potatoes Serves 4

Well if you were listening in to this morning's show you will have heard our little debate about Donna and Joseph's song 'Love' (Which is our Eurovision entry for this year in the Ukraine - Have a look at this site http://www.eurovision.tv/english/index.htm It's a great site full of info)

Well you Take a Breakers are very much 50/50 on whether you like the song or not. Lets hope its good enough to get us through the qualifying round. Either/or we'll get right behind them. The first thing we spoke about on todays show was that Happiness is really good for the heart! According to todays papers being happy thins the blood and make you that bit healthier! So we started off the show on a bright note today and proved that Bobby McFerrin was indeed right!

Hello again Take A Breakers,

Its another Monday - hope you didn't get soaked over the weekend!

Really enjoyed getting stuck into the show today. After been off sick last week, its nice to be starting off on a clean slate with plenty of energy!

First off - its hats off to Sidney Platt, the 100 year old former pilot and tennis player who we featured on todays show - he's into his fifth year studying Information technology in London. It's the sort of story that screams out at you "Its NEVER too late". So Sidney is our new inspiration for the show.

On the other hand 'youngster' Rod Stewart will headline this years Source festival in Kilkenny - the date has been set for the 25th of June. John Keane (he of the Afternoon Show) joined me live from the Press Conference to fill us in. We will as always keep you right up to date with news on the gig and in fairness it looks set to be a fantastic day out! The buring question though is will Rod be wearing a kilt????

We also had plenty of new music on the show today - nice to see the Henry Girls from Your A Star getting the first single out - 'I Do' is a really cathy song and sounds like an Irish version of the Dixie Chicks. K.T Tunstalls new song 'Other side of the world' looks set to be just as successful as 'Black Horse and the Cherry Tree'. She also has a great site located @ www.kttunstall.com.

Gilbert O'Sullivan is our Irish artist of the week! Born in Waterford GOS (whose real name is Raymond!) has had huge success over the years. Todays on Take A Break we chose 'Matrimony' a song that I'm sure brought back many memories of the 70's to you. If you are looking for more information on GOS then have a gander at www.allmusic.com. Its a great site full of information on different artists.

Howya Gang!

Well hope you having a nice weekend. Todays show as you might or might not know is always a very relaxed affair. Plenty of music, a quick flick through the weekend papers and whatever pops up along the way. Music today from Joss Stone, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5 and Don Henly.

Also Its Gerry Rafferty's birthday today so a song or two from him, Did you know he used to be in a band with Billy Connolly way before his huge success in the 70's with Stealers Wheel!!! A nice piece of useless trivia for you!!!

Our special guest today is Cork singer Jean Elliott. You may know Jean as the “woman amongst men” in 2004’s you’re A Star Final. Bachelor of Music from University College Cork, Honours Acting Qualification from LAMDA together with many other entertainment qualifications and television presenting are areas that Jean sits with equal ease.

However, music is Jean’s first love and indeed, if proof was needed as to why then one just has to listen to Jean’s first commercial release, “WALKAWAY”. Its a cathy tune and out now!

With influences sighted as Van Morrison, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Madonna & Elton John, Jean has developed her own style.
